Job summary

Smead is seeking a results-driven Supervisor Manufacturing Engineer to lead our lean and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and warehousing. You will guide cross-functional teams, apply Lean, Six Sigma, and process-mapping tools, and drive cost reduction, quality, and productivity improvements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of continuous improvement / process improvement experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage lean and continuous improvement program and corporate initiatives.
  • Drive improvement projects utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, process mapping, and other tools.
  • Analyze existing business processes and performance to identify areas for improvement, including cost reduction, productivity, and quality.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, root causes, and measure impact of initiatives.
  • Track KPIs to measure effectiveness of improvements and identify further optimization.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute improvement projects and manage deliverables.
  • Facilitate change management processes to ensure adoption of new processes.
  • Train employees on continuous improvement to build a culture of learning.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide documentation and implement a tracking system to sustain improvements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure quality standards are up-to-date.
  • Create strategies to reduce waste, optimize workflows, and improve operational performance.
  • Maintain facility documentation and record keeping for projects and audits.
  • Create and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Utilize and enhance ERP system and processes.
  • Implement plans and train staff on new procedures.

Job description

  • Manage lean and continuous improvement program and corporate initiatives

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree related field required.
  • Extensive and diversified background with at least 5 years of experience in continuous improvement / process improvement, project management, or business development

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and motivate them to meet project goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills – clearly articulate ideas, present findings, and collaborate with others. Able to listen to team and take input from others
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills
  • Proven experience managing projects from idea to completion – develop and execute action plans
  • Ability to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Understanding of change management to successfully implement meaningful changes
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to prioritize projects and keen sense of urgency
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and implement employee training programs
  • Lean / Six Sigma Certification preferred
