Job summary

Verst Logistics, Inc. in Kentucky seeks a Process Improvement Engineer to drive operational excellence by eliminating waste and optimizing processes using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen. The role emphasizes training staff and fostering ongoing optimization across operations.

You will lead Kaizen events, develop KPIs, map value streams, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and safety while traveling to satellite locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (required).
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher preferred).
  • 3–5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams.

Responsibilities

Description

Drive operational excellence by identifying, leading, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness. Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and like methodologies to eliminate waste, train staff, and foster a culture of ongoing optimization.

Reports To: Plant Manager

Working Conditions: Non-Exempt

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Analyze existing business or manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Lead Kaizen events, and Six Sigma initiatives from inception to implementation.
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as cost reduction, waste reduction, and productivity gains.
  • Create, maintain, and update value stream maps to illustrate workflows, identify bottlenecks, and pinpoint non-value-added activities.
  • Ability to managing a project’s entire lifecycle, from initial conception to project closure.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Marginal Functions
  • Ability to understand diverse perspectives from the C-Suite to the frontline.
  • Customer (internal & external) interfacing skills to illustrate the achievable goal/s.
  • Navigate change management workflows, addressing feedback, and maintaining quality control throughout the project's life.
  • Verification of effectiveness - check products and processes to ensure all specified requirements are met and sustained.
  • Optimize space utilization to increase growth potential in a space constricted environment.
  • Work with the Safety and Compliance department to ensure safety and mitigate risk.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification a must: Green Belt or higher preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams.
  • Occasional travel to satellite locations.
  • Ability to understand, follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
