Job Description Continuous Improvement Process Engineer

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (SUMMARY)

Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, the continuous improvement process engineer is responsible for leading, developing, and maintaining a work environment characterized by a commitment to continuous improvement. The role involves leading and co-implementing updated processes, procedures, and system improvements in production facilities to generate long-term benefits involving the entire workforce. Methods include World Class Manufacturing (WCM), 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, SMED, Autonomous Maintenance, Problem Solving, and Value Stream Analysis to reduce waste and enhance productivity. This position is key in delivering process innovation and fostering a culture of sustainable change through WCM/LEAN methodologies to support business transformation.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or 5+ years related manufacturing experience, or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years in continuous improvement, project management, and business analysis
  • Experience with WCM and Lean certification preferred
  • Leadership and training experience a plus
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality Management Systems
  • Experience in regulated industries and contract manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in a global organization
PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS

Continuous Improvement Program:

  • Identify root causes impacting production, aiming for Zero downtime and Zero defects
  • Use systematic problem-solving tools like PDCA/DMAIC
  • Conduct time studies and workflow analyses
  • Support senior leadership with labor ROI data
  • Implement and sustain continuous improvement gains
  • Lead studies in safety, cost, quality, productivity, flow, and value stream mapping

Lead and coordinate improvement initiatives, establish and maintain WCM/CI steering committees, facilitate project planning, lead Kaizen events, monitor progress, and ensure results are sustained. Participate in new product development to identify efficiency gains.

Training:

  • Train employees on WCM and CI tools
  • Develop and deliver training materials
  • Mentor CI teams and facilitate events

Reporting:

  • Develop measurement systems for opportunities and improvements
  • Lead KPI development and participate in global WCM evolution
  • Engage in customer partnership meetings and Visual Factory objectives

Other duties

  • Provide leadership in internal communications and a positive work environment
  • Perform other reasonable duties within expertise
