Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Wendell, NC, is seeking a Continuous Improvement Lead to drive lean transformation across production, logistics, and fabrication. You will implement daily improvement practices, lead Kaizen initiatives, and bridge manufacturing with digital technologies using data, automation, and Industrial AI to create smarter, more efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in Process Engineering, Operations Management, Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated practitioner of Lean/CI approaches and tools (5S/6S, VSM, Standardized Work, 8D/A3, Yamazumi, TPM, Pull Systems, SMED).
  • Proven ability to communicate across disciplines and lead change in ambiguous, complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Group facilitation, public speaking, presentation, coordination skills and ability to moderate discussions to guide teams to success.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Owns shop floor management system ownership and establishes visualization and KPI tracking for performance.
  • Facilitate Kaizen/sprint/workshop events and coordinate logistics to accelerate improvement projects.
  • Build organizational CI capability through training, coaching, and standardized practice adoption.
  • Drive structured problem-solving (RCA, PDCA, 8D, A3) and stabilize processes with preventive measures.
  • Translate analysis into requirements, features, user stories, backlogs, roadmaps and business value.

About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The EA Business Unit’s U.S. headquarters in Wendell, North Carolina, specializes in medium‑voltage power distribution equipment, including primary and secondary switchgear, controllers, contactors, circuit breakers, as well as OEM and replacement/retrofit solutions and services.

We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Lead. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

Help shape the future of manufacturing. In this key leadership role, you'll drive lean transformation and operational excellence across production, logistics, and fabrication operations. Working closely with plant leadership, engineering, and business teams, you'll implement daily improvement practices, lead Kaizen initiatives, and develop innovative solutions that improve productivity, quality, and performance.

You’ll also help bridge manufacturing and digital technologies, using data, automation, and Industrial AI to create smarter, more efficient operations..

  • Shopfloormanagementsystemownership:strengtheningmanufacturingcapabilityand performancebyprovidingnewmanagement sistemablerssuch asbut not limited tovisualprocesscontrols, performanceindicators,signals,escalationprotocols, accountability,standardization,fast-response problem solving, process audits,and sustaining mechanisms.
  • Kaizen / sprint / workshop facilitation:build customizedworkeventsemployingbest-fitapproaches from relevant methodology, orchestratepre-work andpractical logistics, and guide all necessary contributing partiesthroughacollaborative sequence of exercisestospeed the flowof internal improvement projects from idea toexecution, ultimately forming arevolving deck ofcontinuous improvementactivitywhich canbecomeadefiningfeatureofplant culture.
  • Buildingorganizationalcompetency and fosteringCIculture:Provide training, coaching,and pathwaysforstaffand employeestolearn, adopt, andpracticeprinciples of continuous improvementin alignment with businessobjectives.Support the proactive definition,documentation, and socializationof standardstoincrease operational maturity.
  • Structuredproblem-solving andprocessstabilization:Owns, hosts, and socializes a system ofRCA, PDCA,8D, A3 techniquestoaddress systemicgapsresultingin the effective implementation ofwell-craftedpreventative measures.Mapskeylearnings and conclusionsback into theorganizationalmanagement system,leveragingtools like Standardized Work, 6S,pFMEA, and TPM.
  • Roadmap and strategy development:Translatingtechnical analysis into requirements, features, user stories,backlogs,roadmaps, and commercial value propositions tobuildmomentum and clarityaroundstrategicobjectivesand plans.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering,Operations,Supply Chain, or relatedtechnical discipline.

  • Demonstratedpractitioner ofLean/CIapproachesand tools such asbut not limited to5S/6S,VSM,Standardized Work, 8D/A3,Yamazumi,TPM, Pull Systems,SMED.
  • Proven ability tocommunicate across multiple disciplines and leadchangein ambiguousandcomplex environments where alignment and accountability of multiple stakeholders is necessary forimplementationsuccess.
  • Group facilitation experience / public speakingskills/ presentation/ coordinationskillsandstrongability to moderatediscussions and guide teams toward success.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Power Platform datamodeling,visualization,and workflow automation
  • Lean, Agile, and/or Six Sigma certification
  • Experience in complex, high-mixmanufacturing assembly environments(engineer-to-order)
  • Basic project management skills necessary for achieving coordinated activity on-timeand within promised scope(Gantt/timeline, RACI,prioritization,dependency mapping, riskmanagement).
  • Highproficiencyinprocess mapping tools such asVisio or similar and the ability to communicate effectively across groups using data,models, and visuals.
  • Basic knowledge of ERP systems(SAP preferred)andunderstanding ofhowERPandmaster datainteractionsshape physicalshopfloorflow conditions.

The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
