Job summary

Arcosa Wind Towers is seeking a motivated Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive positive change in manufacturing. You will apply lean and CI methods to improve product quality, efficiency, productivity, and safety on the plant floor.

The role largely operates on 1st shift with occasional off-shift projects; candidate should be proactive, able to work independently and with a team, and comfortable in an industrial environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing experience with continuous improvement preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Projects) and Visio.
  • Basic understanding of or experience with VBA preferred.
  • Experience in providing training/coaching across multiple levels.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with departments including production, safety, quality, engineering, and maintenance to support CI.
  • Provide engineering/CI support for improvement projects, changeovers and Kaizen events.
  • Facilitate training on continuous improvement tools and lean concepts.
  • Utilize project management techniques: communication, implementation, cost/benefit analysis, resource allocation.
  • Track and manage projects with software tools and create visual management aids.
  • Develop relationships with shop floor employees and advocate for improvement opportunities.

Job description

Arcosa Wind Towersis looking for amotivated, results and people-orientedContinuousImprovementEngineerto drive positive change utilizing project management and CI and lean methodologies. This individual will work within elements of the sciences of manufacturing and industrial engineering while keeping continuous improvement fundamentals at the forefront. The right candidate will use effective project management practices and be focused on identifying and implementing solutions to improve employee morale, product quality, efficiency, productivity, and safety performance throughout the plant. Generally, this position’s coverage occurs during 1st shift but flexibility to provide coverage for occasional projects and tasks occurring off-shift is essential. The right candidate will have a positive attitude and possess the aptitude and drive to take initiative to make things happen on their own.

What you’ll do:

  • Work cross-functionally with and provide CI support to all departments/business disciplines including production, safety, quality, engineering, and maintenance
  • Provide engineering / CI support for improvement projects, product changeovers and process improvement Kaizens and workshops
  • Facilitating training as needed (continuous improvement tools / lean concepts, product / process rollouts, process updates etc…)
  • Utilize project management techniques including effective communication, implementation, cost/benefit analysis, and resource allocation
  • Use various Microsoft and other computer software to track/manage projects, evaluate production processes, and create visual aids / management tools
  • Be intentional in developing relationships with shop floor employees, learn their processes and be an advocate for sounding opportunities around production, quality, safety

What we’re looking for (preferred qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing; experience with continuous improvement preferred
  • Experience and moderate proficiency in MS Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Projects, and Vizio) required
  • Basic understanding of or experience with VBA preferred
  • Experience in providing training/coaching across multiple levels within an organization preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize projects and tasks
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple mediums (verbal, written, electronic)
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and levels of cleanliness

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position
  • Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas
  • This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in industrial environments, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
