Job description

Continuous Improvement Engineer

The Continuous Improvement Engineer focuses on business processes, new product development projects, supplier improvement efforts, and customer/product issues and reports to the OpEx Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Value Stream Mapping processes, time studies, leading Kaizen events, creating Standard Work, audits/Gemba Walks, develop: PFD, FMEA, Control Plan, and Job Element Sheets, conducting root cause analysis using 5-Why, Cause and Effect Diagram, A3 tools, New Product Introduction (NPI) validation, creating test validation plans, Gauge Studies, and perform statistical analysis.
  • Identify and eliminate WASTE through lean manufacturing principles; leading continuous improvement initiatives that drive measurable operational efficiencies across the facility.
  • Create and maintain preventive maintenance checklists and schedules to ensure equipment reliability and uptime; document and evolve equipment troubleshooting guides to support frontline problem resolution.
  • Develop training documents and maintain the training matrix to ensure workforce competency, standardization and compliance across all applicable roles.
  • Assist with AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) reports, supporting capital project justification and process improvement investments.
  • Use voice of the customer information to drive decision making; strong understanding of problem-solving tools (5-Why, Logic Tree, Cause and Effect Diagram, A3, etc.) to determine root cause analysis and develop countermeasures.
  • Resolve a wide range of issues creatively; ability to solve straightforward problems with a solid understanding of lean principles, quality systems, statistical tools and procedures; understands key business drivers to accomplish own work.
  • Conduct audits, write audit reports, distribute reports, follow up on non-conformances; create, manage and distribute Quality Alerts.
  • Function as the Quality Assurance representative for the review and approval of CAPAs, Deviations, MDRs, Validations and QWC; implement and maintain the effectiveness of the Quality System.
  • Support the creation of quality documents for new product launches; conduct inspections, testing and analysis to ensure product quality and compliance with OBE and industry standards.
  • Respond to and follow up on customer complaints.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, mechanical, manufacturing, chemical engineering, industrial engineering)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience and knowledge in Toyota Production Systems, mechanical and/or manufacturing processes, an understanding of drawings, specifications and standards, familiarity with machined parts and their manufacturing processes, and a background in continuous improvement; ISO-9000 and/or TS-16949 Quality System experience beneficial
  • Demonstrates a working understanding of general business principles
  • CQE, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience preferred; Quality Engineer certification through ASQ preferred
Pay Range

$73,000 — $85,000 USD
