Job summary

Ampac Holdings, LLC is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to lead deployment of a strategic plan ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient production of high-quality products.

The successful candidate will promote CI frameworks, engage with facilities, and provide hands-on leadership to improve technical and procedural standards; significant travel is required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in technical disciplines and 5 years' experience in manufacturing.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification highly desired; demonstrable lean culture experience.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of ISO/SQF.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and stats; knowledge of quality/manufacturing philosophies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication; ability to interact with all levels.
  • Strong leadership and coaching with a hands-on Go See approach.
  • Travel requirements for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, adopt, and diffuse manufacturing best practices across operations and drive accountability at all levels.
  • Support facility managers to reduce waste, shorten changeovers, reduce inventory, improve quality, root cause analyses, and build workforce capabilities.
  • Lead change and model desirable behaviors to set an example for others.
  • Prioritize improvements to achieve budgeted savings through process improvements.
  • Promote CI strategies to accelerate transformation to a lean enterprise culture.
  • Balance quality, productivity, and safety to achieve positive results.
  • Interface with stakeholders to understand and reconcile requirements.
  • Facilitate peer networking among quality/CI managers.
  • Implement audits for CI systems.
  • Support a safe work environment by following regulations and reporting hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Continuous Improvement Engineer position provides leadership and support to the deployment of a strategic plan which ensures customer satisfaction through the efficient production of superior quality products. The successful candidate will actively promote the Continuous Improvement frameworks and assessments, and other initiatives that provide roadmaps to a total quality culture. This includes direct engagement with facilities to fully understand workplace realities. It also requires hands-on technical and functional leadership to improve technical and procedural standards.

Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 based on experience.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Work closely with enterprise leadership, BU and facilities leaders, and process owners to identify, develop, adopt, and diffuse manufacturing best practices throughout operations and drive accountability at all levels.
  • Support facility managers to improve their processes to reduce waste; decrease changeover times; reduce inventory; improve quality, root cause analyses and problem solving; and develop workforce capabilities and skill versatilities.
  • Lead change and model desirable behaviors (goal orientation, perseverance, process orientation, follow-through, communication, etc.) to set an example for others to follow.
  • Prioritize improvements to help businesses achieve budgeted savings through process improvements.
  • Promote strategies and best practices to accelerate transformation to a quality and continues improvement culture. Focus on principles, practices, and behaviors needed to transform into an enterprise of Lean thinkers and practitioners.
  • Balance quality, productivity, and safety to achieve positive results in all areas.
  • Promote the Quality Vision and Quality/CI strategic plan. Help shape/improve the plan over time.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to understand and reconcile requirements.
  • Facilitate peer networking among the quality/CI managers.
  • Implement audits for CI systems.
  • Support and contribute to a healthy and safety work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Critical Knowledge and Skills:
  • B.S. Degree in technical disciplines and 5 years' experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Lean 6 Sigma certification highly desired. Demonstrable roots in a lean culture.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of ISO/SQF.
  • The ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical reference is required. Must be well-versed in contemporary quality and manufacturing philosophies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple priorities are required.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to work with customers, vendors and employees are every level of the organization is required.
  • Strong leadership and coaching practices are required including a hands-on, \"Go See\" approach to constantly calibrate on expectations and mentor regarding improvement opportunities.
  • Flexible Packaging industry experience is a plus but not required.
  • Significant travel is required.
