The Village Independent Living is seeking a skilled Contingent Painter for a 4–6 month project within our Independent Living community. The role focuses on refreshing first-floor hallways, removing wallpaper, preparing walls, and repainting to create a welcoming environment for residents.

The ideal candidate has proven painting experience, familiarity with wall surface prep, and the ability to work safely around residents and staff in a licensed senior living setting.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional painting experience preferred.
  • Experience with wallpaper removal and wall surface preparation strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and proper use of painting tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform detailed work while maintaining consistent quality.
  • Ability to safely use ladders and perform physical tasks associated with painting and surface preparation.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in senior living, healthcare, residential, commercial, or other occupied facilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Remove existing wallpaper from first-floor hallway walls using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Prepare wall surfaces for painting, including scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, and other necessary repairs.
  • Prime and paint hallway walls, trim, doors, and other designated surfaces as needed.
  • Apply paint evenly and professionally, ensuring clean lines and consistent coverage.
  • Protect floors, doors, fixtures, furnishings, and other surfaces from paint, dust, and debris.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout each project.
  • Safely operate painting equipment, hand tools, ladders, and other equipment as required.
  • Identify wall or surface conditions that may require additional preparation or repair and communicate concerns to the supervisor.
  • Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
  • Minimize disruption to residents, staff, and daily community activities while completing assigned work.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when working in resident areas.
  • Work efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
  • Assist with moving or protecting light furnishings and other items as needed to complete work safely.
  • Follow the project schedule and communicate progress, delays, or material needs to the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties related to the special project as assigned.

We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Contingent Painter to join our Building Services team for a special project within our Independent Living community.

Position Overview

The Contingent Painter will support a 4–6 month special project focused on refreshing the first-floor hallways throughout our Independent Living apartments. The primary responsibilities will include removing existing wallpaper, preparing wall surfaces, and repainting hallways to provide a clean, updated, and welcoming environment for our residents.

The ideal candidate is experienced in painting and surface preparation, takes pride in quality workmanship, and understands the importance of maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment within a senior living community.

This is a temporary, project-based position expected to last approximately 4–6 months, based on project needs and completion.

Key Responsibilities
