Job summary

Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians,Inc is seeking a highly skilled Contingent Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) to join our clinical team in Columbus, OH. This PRN/contingent role provides primary care services on an as-needed basis to cover peak volumes, vacations, or staffing gaps in outpatient settings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited advanced practice program.
• Current, valid RN and APRN license in Ohio.
• National board certification as FNP or AGPCNP from an approved body (ANCC/AANP).
• Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant training program.
• Active NCCPA certification and a valid Ohio PA license.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for adult or geriatric patients.
• Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies with proper medication reconciliation.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging as appropriate.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate referrals to specialists.
• Counsel patients on lifestyle changes and preventive screenings.

Description

Central Ohio Primary Care is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Contingent Advanced Practice Provider (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse / Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our clinical team. In this PRN / contingent role, you will provide high-quality, comprehensive, and patient-centered primary care services on an as-needed basis to cover peak volumes, vacation leaves, or staffing gaps.

The Contingent APP operates in a dynamic outpatient environment. You will work independently yet collaboratively with supervising/collaborating physicians, medical assistants, and care coordinators to manage acute and chronic conditions across the patient lifespan.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis: Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations on new and returning adult or geriatric patients. Formulate accurate differential diagnoses based on data collection and physiological signs.
• Care Management: Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based treatment plans for acute illnesses, preventative health maintenance, and complex chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, hypertension).
• Prescriptive Authority: Safely prescribe pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities, maintaining thorough medication reconciliation in alignment with Ohio state laws.
• Diagnostic & Procedures: Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging. Perform minor, minimally invasive outpatient primary care procedures as authorized.
• Care Coordination: Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, participate in care huddles, and facilitate smooth referrals to specialists.
• Patient Education: Counsel patients and families regarding lifestyle modifications, chronic disease management, and preventative screenings.
• Quality Assurance: Participate in periodic quality assurance and chart reviews as mandated by practice protocols and state guidelines.

Position Structure & Schedule

• Hours: Variable shifts depending on clinic needs (Monday through Friday, typically between 8:0 AM and 5:00 PM; no mandatory holiday or overnight call).
• Location: Outpatient clinic settings within central Ohio.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited advanced practice program.
• Licensure: Current, valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Ohio.
• Certification: National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) from an approved body (e.g., ANCC, AANP).
• Education: Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant training program.
• Licensure/Certification: Active NCCPA certification and a valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio.

Requirements:

• Active, unrestricted DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain prior to hire) for prescribing controlled substances.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) provider certification.
• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient primary care, family medicine, or internal medicine setting is highly preferred.
• Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic) and telehealth software tools. COPC uses EPIC.

Compensation and Benefits:

$65.00 per hour. No benefits are available.
