Job summary

North Block Hotel in Yountville is seeking a part-time Continental Breakfast Attendant to join our welcoming team. This role focuses on morning setup, light prep, service, and breakdown of the continental breakfast, ensuring guests are greeted warmly and offered attentive service in a refined, hotel dining environment.

Ideal candidates have morning/weekend availability; prior hospitality experience is a plus but training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Service Setup (6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.): set up breakfast area, brew coffee, plate fruits and pastries, stock condiments, ensure surfaces are clean.
• Service (7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.): greet guests, replenish items, maintain cleanliness, accommodate guest requests, report shortages to on-duty manager.
• Breakdown (10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.): store food items properly, sanitize surfaces, reset space, complete end-of-shift checklist, note inventory needs.

This position requires morning and weekend availablity. Shifts are approximately 6:30am to 10:30am, 4-5 days a week. This position is ideal for someone seeing a consistent morning schedule with afternoons free. Prior hospitality experience is a plus but we're happy to train the right candidate!

WHAT YOU WOULD DO AS A CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST ATTENDANT

The Continental Breakfast Attendant is one of the first faces our guests see each morning, setting the tone for a memorable day in Wine Country. This role is responsible for the daily setup, light preparation, service, and breakdown of our continental breakfast at North Block Hotel, ensuring every guest is welcomed with warmth, thoughtfully curated offerings, and an inviting space.

Key Responsibilities

• Pre-Service Setup (6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.)
  • Arrive on time and in proper uniform, ready for service
  • Set up the breakfast area including tables, linens, signage, and serviceware
  • Brew fresh coffee, prepare hot water for tea service, and set out juices, milks, and alternative beverages
  • Plate seasonal fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, granola, and other continental offerings with attention to presentation
  • Stock condiments, napkins, utensils, and to-go containers
  • Confirm all surfaces, equipment, and serving stations are clean, organized, and inviting
• Service (7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.)
  • Greet every guest warmly and offer recommendations on the morning's selections and the local Yountville area
  • Continuously monitor and replenish food, beverages, and supplies throughout service to maintain a full and beautiful presentation
  • Maintain cleanliness of tables, counters, and the surrounding area at all times
  • Brew additional coffee and refresh items proactively, never waiting to be asked
  • Address guest requests, allergies, and dietary needs promptly and professionally
  • Communicate any shortages, guest feedback, or maintenance issues to the manager on duty in real time
• Breakdown (10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)
  • Clear, label, date, and properly store all food items in accordance with food safety standards
  • Wipe down and sanitize all surfaces, equipment, and serving stations
  • Reset the space for its next use
  • Remove trash and recycling and complete the end-of-shift cleaning checklist
  • Note inventory needs and communicate them to the manager before clocking out
