Ancestry is seeking a part-time contractor Content Writer to join the Contextual Content team. You will craft content across StoryScout, collection descriptions, and blog posts, ensuring genealogical depth and accuracy.

Experience with African American genealogy research is essential, and candidates should demonstrate strong writing and editing skills, plus reliable research abilities and attention to detail. This role is contract-based and not eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities

• Closely collaborate with the Editor and Program Manager to revise and develop each writing assignment to completion.
• Conduct in-depth historical research to support each assignment.
• Write content for formats including record descriptions, stories from historical records, and blog posts.
• Ensure each assignment follows style guidelines and maintains quality and audience awareness.
• Ensure presented facts are supported by thorough research.
• Meet submission deadlines and provide status updates to leadership.

By integrating domain-specific expertise, we will reduce review cycles, address current bottlenecks, and ensure our collections provide maximum value to our users.Required Writer Skills: Writers must be highly versatile and capable of producing high-quality content across various formats, including StoryScout, collection descriptions, and blog posts. In addition to strong writing abilities and historical research skills, having family history expertise is an essential requirement for these positions to ensure accuracy and genealogical depth in all content produced.MUST HAVE experience with African American genealogy research and writin g.African American Subject Matter ExpertiseThe ideal candidate is specialized in African American genealogy and historical research expertise. They would support ongoing collection description updates, new collection launches, and StoryScout story development.
