Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in content programming, marketing, merchandising, media, entertainment, publishing, or related fields.
  • Experience with merchandising, promotions, digital content, or marketing initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the film, entertainment, streaming, library, or digital media industries.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, proofreading abilities, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Professional, collaborative, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Naturally curious, inquisitive, and eager to learn.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the prioritization, scheduling, merchandising, and curation of content, including themed collections, marketing initiatives, and title placement across the platform.
  • Research films, filmmakers, genres, cast, awards, and related content while auditing, maintaining, and improving metadata accuracy and discoverability.
  • Use internal tools to retrieve, track, and analyze content performance and audience engagement metrics to support programming and scheduling decisions.
  • Support content improvement projects, documentation reviews, presentations, meeting notes, and content-related data requests across teams.
  • Develop an understanding of Kanopy audiences across public library and academic markets and complete assigned work accurately, efficiently, and on time.

This position will require you to be in the Greater Cleveland, OH Area

We are presently in a hybrid schedule, 2 days on campus and 3 days WFH

At Kanopy, we connect audiences with thoughtful, enriching films, documentaries, and educational content through public libraries and academic institutions. We're seeking a Content Programming Specialist who combines exceptional attention to detail with a genuine passion for film, cinema, and visual storytelling. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about film genres, notable filmmakers, cinema history, awards, and industry trends, and is excited by the opportunity to help audiences discover meaningful content through thoughtful curation and merchandising.

In this role, you will support the presentation, organization, and discoverability of content across the Kanopy platform. Success in this position requires curiosity about audience viewing habits, an interest in content performance and engagement data, and familiarity with film resources such as IMDb, Letterboxd, Rotten Tomatoes, film festivals, and industry publications. You will help ensure that films are accurately represented, strategically merchandised, and positioned to reach the audiences most likely to engage with them.
