Summary:
The Content Operations Owner will serve as the link between content and marketing — the person who knows our content intimately and owns the Contentful publishing pipeline end to end. This is a standalone role, not a task split across the team, that will see across silos — content, development, marketing, and promotional partners.
Responsibilities:
- Own the operational lifecycle of Open the Bible content - from publishing request through quality assurance, scheduling, publication, and ongoing maintenance
- Publish across content types including but not limited to; the Daily Broadcast, Daily Devotional, Articles, Monthly Offer, Store Products, Sermons, Radio Stations, Landing Pages, Courses, Campaign Pages, Product Updates, and more.
- Manage the publishing calendar by scheduling recurring and one-off content, flag conflicts early, and handling publish/unpublish timing and locale checks.
- Manage and own content integrity such as metadata/taxonomy, locale completeness, scheduled publish/unpublish dates, media/assets, etc.
- Be the single point of contact and own "where's this content?" and "when's it live?".
- Run approvals and quality assurance by sending preview links for sign-off when needed, and catching broken links, missing fields, and formatting issues before anything goes live.
- Identify problems and propose improvements (you’ll own Contentful operationally, but not architecturally).
- Improve the process by identifying weak spots/friction in content workflows and fix it — or propose how to fix it. (Ex: better request formats, clearer status visibility, less manual back-and-forth.)
- Identify where Contentful, custom UIs, or integrations could do more of the work, and bring recommendations to the development team.
- Work with custom UIs built on Contentful for things like devotionals, campaigns, and audio upload.
What This Role Isn’t:
- Writing original copy or substantive editing — that stays with our content contributors
- Making brand or creative decisions about content direction
- Changing content models, integrations, or webhooks — that's owned by our development team
The Ideal Candidate:
- Pays close attention to detail and strong organizational skills — especially around metadata and QA
- Is willing to learn new systems such as Contentful to maintain our content structure, follow set steps carefully, and stay organized with access others depend on.
- Is a clear communicator who can chase down assets and approvals without letting things stall — you can track down files and approvals from multiple people and keep things moving.
- Takes initiative beyond your task list — you're comfortable suggesting a better way to do something.
- 1–3+ years doing content operations, editorial coordination, publishing, or digital production work
- Experience with Contentful or another CMS; experience managing user permissions/access is a plus
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment
- Full alignment with Open the Bible’s mission and Statement of Faith
