Job description

About Backlight

Backlight is the team behind Iconik, Wildmoka, and a family of media technology products used by broadcasters, brands, and content-heavy organizations to manage, create, and deliver media faster. Our suite of SaaS solutions empowers creative teams at every stage of production. Our marketing team is small and mighty. We work collaboratively, without the onerous red tape you might find at large enterprises. Things move fast here. We care about the work, love to experiment, and get joy out of producing outstanding content and creative.

The Role

We're looking for a versatile content manager and copywriter to join us on contract for five months, working 20–30 hours a week. You'll write a range of material, from long-form case studies and web content to short, punchy ads. You may jump in on webinar content too.

This isn't a write-it-and-hand-it-off role. You'll own content from brief to published page, which means you're just as comfortable interviewing a customer or shaping a headline as you are logging into the CMS and publishing your own work.

What you'll do

  • Write and edit content across case studies, website copy, digital ads, and other marketing assets.

  • Support webinar production with scripts, promo copy, and follow-up content as needed.

  • Manage projects end to end, from gathering source material, briefs, and interviews to drafting, revising, and getting content published.

  • Own the CMS side of publishing, entering and formatting copy directly, and QA'ing it once it's live.

  • Partner closely with marketing and product stakeholders to make sure content is accurate, on-brand, and on-time.

  • Keep voice and editorial standards consistent across our case studies, web copy, and ads, so everything sounds like it came from the same team.

Who we're looking for

  • Proven copywriting chops across long-form and short-form formats, including case studies, web pages, and ads.

  • A project-owner mindset, comfortable managing a piece of content from kickoff to publish, not just writing what's assigned.

  • Hands‑on CMS experience, comfortable entering, formatting, and publishing copy without hand‑holding.

  • An editorial eye that reads like a person wrote it, not a template, with tight, benefit‑led writing over generic corporate language.

  • Self‑direction, as someone who can juggle multiple projects and deadlines with minimal oversight.

  • Bonus: experience writing for B2B SaaS, media technology, or a similarly technical audience.
