The Rosdev Group seeks an experienced editor to plan, coordinate, and edit written material for publication. You will verify facts, read and revise manuscripts, and develop compelling content ideas for diverse audiences.

You will supervise reporters and editors, manage publication production and proofs, and collaborate with management to shape content and editorial policy. This role demands strong deadlines and budget awareness.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
  • Read, evaluate and edit manuscripts; confer with authors on content, style, or publication.
  • Develop story or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal.
  • Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability, or supervise others who do this work.
  • Oversee publication production, including artwork, layout, typesetting, and printing, with deadlines and budget.
  • Write text, such as stories, articles, editorials, or newsletters.
  • Supervise and coordinate work of reporters and editors.
  • Confer with management and editorial staff on placement and emphasis of developing news stories.
  • Plan contents of publications according to style and publishing requirements.
  • Arrange for copyright permissions.
  • Interview and hire writers and reporters or negotiate contracts and payments.
  • Read material to determine index items and organize them.
  • Allocate print space for text, photos, and illustrations using layout principles.
  • Make manuscript acceptance or revision recommendations to the publisher.
  • Direct policies of newspapers, magazines and publishing establishments.
  • Review and approve proofs submitted by composing room.
  • Assign topics for writers or reporters to cover.
  • Meet with artists, typesetters, layout personnel, marketing directors, and production managers to discuss projects.
  • Monitor news-gathering operations to utilize all news sources.
  • Select local, state, national, and international news items from wire services.
  • Read copy to detect errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.

  • Direct the policies and departments of newspapers, magazines and other publishing establishments.

  • Meet frequently with artists, typesetters, layout personnel, marketing directors, and production managers to discuss projects and resolve problems.
  • Monitor news-gathering operations to ensure utilization of all news sources, such as press releases, telephone contacts, radio, television, wire services, and other reporters.
  • Select local, state, national, and international news items received from wire services, based on assessment of items’ significance and interest value.
  • Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
