A client-focused company specializing in sales training is seeking a part-time Instructional Designer/Curriculum Writer to enhance their training programs. This role requires experience in creating and developing training materials aligned with client needs, emphasizing soft skills and effective communication. Candidates should have strong business acumen and excellent communication skills.
Our client specializes in sales training for salespeople and managers in a variety of industries. They implement sales development programs, best practices, sales management skills, and programs to convert a service culture to a sales culture. They believe in helping their clients create a unique and positive buying experience for their customers. They are seeking a contract Instructional Designer/Curriculum Writer to add to their team. This person must have a strong business acumen and executive presence, as well as a client service mindset and desire to over-deliver.
This is a part-time, contract role, and this person may be based anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Create, write, and build training on sales, communication, and soft skills from scratch
- Evaluate and critique existing presentation and educational materials
- Play an involved role in the development of new curriculum delivery methods, timing, and content – working with internal team as well as client resources
- Create examples and demos of what good sales/communication/soft skills look and sound like
- Leverage existing IP and develop new IP to deliver on the client engagements' goals
- Provide expertise and strategy as to how best to deliver consultancy’s IP to a variety of audiences in a variety of formats
- Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods
- Build unformatted slides and workbooks containing the training frameworks, examples, and activities
- Understand how training should flow before passing materials along to the design team
- Work with the company’s clients as well as the client’s SMEs during the discovery phase to extract examples and company nuances/jargon to learn how best to insert such information into training materials
Requirements:
- 5+ years Instructional Design/Curriculum Writing experience; preferably in a business setting
- Experience in adult learning settings
- MS in Instructional Design or other advanced degree strongly preferred, but not mandatory
- Experience creating, writing, and building from scratch training on sales/communication/soft skills
- Extensive experience working in client-facing roles
- Ability to listen to sales or customer service teams and understand what reps are missing
- Ability to create trainings and demos showing how preferred sales, communication, and soft skills look and sound like
- Capable of extracting external company nuances and jargon and implementing these findings into training materials
- Motivated and diligent self-starter with an ability to lead
- Superior written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented
Compensation: $50-80/hour; DOE
