The Holmes Center is looking for a content author to join our team to create engaging and informative written material to update and enrich the Holmes Center website as a forward facing, landing page for information regarding K-12 professional development opportunities and co-labs. This material will also be utilized with other online media and print material including recruiting information for prospective PSU teacher preparation students, partnership school mentors and administrators, and NH DOE program reviewers.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Gather pertinent information, gather research as needs be, and write clear, concise, engaging copy (including editing, proofreading, and optimizing content) for online and print media.
• Fact-check any data collected during research process
• Write clear copy tailored to our audience/s to promote our services
• Prepare well-structured drafts
• Submit work to team for input and approval; and revise work based on feedback
• Work within a finite deadline/timeline.
• Edit and revise for on point voice, grammar and style.
• Work closely with internal team members to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging, branding, and style.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Proven work experience as content writer
• Professional educator experience
  
  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of teacher licensure process, educator professional development needs, education system recertification, educators, school administrators, reviewers, and other stakeholders
• Excellent writing and editing skills in English
• Computer literacy
• The ability to cooperate with team to complete projects
• Ability to meet deadlines
  
  

Other Requirements

• Familiarity with web and print publications
• An understanding of search engine optimization best practices
• Understanding grammar rules and how to construct clear sentences
• Being mindful of things like flow, readability, and sentence variety
• Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone)
