How can you make an Impact?

The Content Architect for SIMnet supports the development of technically complex digital learning experiences by combining instructional design, structured content development, AI-enabled authoring, accessibility, and implementation knowledge. This is a highly independent individual contributor role that requires strong judgment and the ability to translate complex instructional goals into clear, build-ready specifications with minimal direction. The role helps define and maintain content standards, specifications, and workflows for content such as simulations, auto graded activities, and other interactive learning experiences. A key focus of the role is improving operational efficiency and speed to market for simulation storyboards, simulations, and simulated content development by creating clear, reusable, and implementation-ready practices for internal teams and vendor partners.

What you will be doing:

• Digital Content Architecture (Standards & Patterns): Develop and maintain structured content models and technical standards for digital learning experiences, such as simulations, autograded activities, interactive practice, and other content types. Document standards for structure, metadata, naming, accessibility, implementation requirements, and integration, and maintain reusable patterns that internal teams and vendors can apply consistently.
• Content Development & Storyboard Architecture: Develop, design, and review storyboards and content specifications for digital learning experiences, including flows, interactions, validation logic, feedback, technical requirements, accessibility expectations, and edge cases. Translate instructional goals into clear, build-ready specifications that support consistent implementation and efficient production.
• Auto Graded Content Architecture & Enablement: Define how learning content should be structured, documented, and built so it can be automatically graded with accuracy, consistency, and clear learner feedback. Create standards, examples, acceptance criteria, and reusable patterns that clarify what high-quality autograded content looks like across projects and titles. Partner with product, engineering, internal teams, and vendors to resolve grading requirements, validate expected behavior, and reduce rework. Train and support vendor teams on autograded content standards, storyboard expectations, quality checks, and implementation-ready specifications.
• Engineering Collaboration & Vendor Enablement: Guide vendor partners developing storyboards, simulations, autograded activities, and other digital learning content, ensuring deliverables meet instructional, technical, accessibility, quality, and schedule expectations. Partner with product, engineering, and vendors during build to resolve ambiguity, confirm feasibility, and clarify validation, grading, and interaction behavior. Train vendor teams on standards, specifications, quality checks, and implementation-ready documentation to improve consistency and support efficient production.
• AI-Enabled Authoring & Workflow Improvement: Use AI-enabled tools, structured documentation, reusable patterns, and improved workflows to support more efficient content development, review, and vendor handoff. Identify practical opportunities to reduce rework, improve consistency, and support faster speed to market within SIMnet content development processes.
• Accessibility & Quality Leadership: Set quality and accessibility expectations for deliverables (WCAG/Section 508 where applicable) and perform final checks for clarity, consistency, and learner experience before release.

We're looking for someone with:

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience in instructional design, content development, content architecture, digital publishing, curriculum development, or digital product environments.
• Proven experience designing and implementing structured content models within digital learning platforms, creating scalable content frameworks, repeatable patterns, and technical specifications.
• Strong ability to translate complex instructional concepts into organized, implementation-ready solutions while identifying risks, dependencies, and edge cases.
• Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams, independently gathering requirements, facilitating alignment, supporting decision-making, and training stakeholders and vendors on content standards and best practices.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and quality review skills, with experience applying accessibility, technical, and quality standards to internal and vendor deliverables.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React-based code, Visual Studio Code, WCAG accessibility standards, Jira, and GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools, with an understanding of technical implementation requirements.
• Proficiency leveraging AI-enabled tools to support content development, workflow optimization, documentation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The pay range for this position is between $58,200 - $87,000 annually. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
