One River School of Art + Design is seeking a Contemporary Art Teacher for PreK–2 in Manhasset, NY. The role offers a part-time schedule with classes on weekday and weekend mornings and afternoons, in a vibrant studio environment.

You’ll lead hands-on classes, explore contemporary approaches across various media, and support young creators in developing confidence and an artist’s voice through engaging lessons and family communication.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of teaching experience in art education.
• Experience teaching PreK–2 or early childhood preferred.
• Ability to engage young children across multiple art mediums.

Responsibilities

• Lead dynamic, hands-on weekly art classes for PreK–2 students, weekdays and Saturdays.
• Explore painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and 3D work.
• Encourage experimentation, risk-taking, and imaginative thinking.
• Create WOW moments to build confidence and artistic voice.
• Communicate student growth and progress with families.

What You’ll Do

• Lead dynamic, hands-on weekly art classes for PreK–2 students - Classes run weekday and Saturday mornings and afternoons.
• Explore contemporary approaches across painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and 3D work
• Encourage experimentation, creative risk-taking, and big imaginative thinking
• Create "WOW moments" that build confidence and artistic voice
• Connect thoughtfully with families about student growth and creative breakthroughs

Who You Are

• A practicing or highly engaged artist with at least 1 year of teaching experience
• Confident working across multiple mediums
• Energized by working with children and nurturing their creative confidence
• Warm, engaging, and student-centered
• A thoughtful communicator who values relationships with families and colleagues
• Aligned with our mission to transform art education

Education:

• BFA or BS in Art Education required
• MFA or Master's in Art Education is a plus
