Primary Purpose

Responsible for the administrative activities of the contact lens service department for The Eye Care Institute (TECI).

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides technical assistance with the ordering and verification of contact lenses to ensure the best visual outcome for patients.
  • Assists with the processing of authorizations, medically necessary services and contact lenses, and insurance claims to ensure services rendered are accurate and processed in a timely manner.
  • Participates in the ordering of diagnostic and stocked contact lenses and supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Performs inventory analysis and prepares reports at the end of the fiscal and calendar year to ensure adequate inventory and reduce shrinkage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), data entry skills, and internet research abilities.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures such as filing, answering telephones, and supply/equipment ordering.
  • Ability to enter data in NSU systems accurately.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Strong administrative skills – organized, thorough, systems oriented, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proactive, punctual, and reliable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
  • May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in the performance of job duties.
  • May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, including pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, and carry patient records and supplies.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing in excess of 10 lbs.
  • May be required to work nights and weekends.
Required Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Required Experience

One (1) year of clerical and/or customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
  • One year contact lens experience.
