Job summary

Sarinelli & Associates is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing team in Succasunna, NJ. You will own complex tax engagements, work with seasoned professionals, and contribute to client service excellence at a respected firm.

Ideal candidates have experience with business and individual tax returns, strong Excel skills, and proficiency in tax software including Lacerte. CPA or active pursuit is preferred, with the ability to communicate clearly with clients.

Qualifications

• BS or BA in Accounting required.
• CPA license preferred or actively pursuing.
• Experience preparing business and individual tax returns.
• Proficiency in tax software; Lacerte Tax experience preferred.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Excellent communication with clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and analyze individual, trust, gift, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding tax returns and other tax-related issues.
• Research and advise clients on complex tax questions.
• Identify tax-saving opportunities for business clients and owners.
• Bookkeeping and work with client records to create general ledger in QuickBooks.
• Review and adjust client accounting records to reconcile with tax returns.
• Demonstrate initiative to independently manage multiple assignments.
• Supervise and train entry-level accounting staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Communicate professionally and clearly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and analyze individual, trust, gift, partnership, and corporate tax returns
• Communicate directly with clients regarding tax returns and other tax related issues
• Research and advise clients on complex tax questions
• Identify tax-saving opportunities for business clients and owners
• Bookkeeping and work with client records to create general ledger in accounting software (QuickBooks)
• Review and adjust client accounting records to reconcile with tax returns, including cash and accrual basis differences
• Demonstrate skill, judgment, and initiative to independently manage multiple assignments
• Supervise and train entry-level accounting staff
• Perform other duties as assigned by your manager
• Effective communicator with the ability to ask questions in a professional, clear and concise manner and demonstrate patience in client interactions

Requirements

• BS or BA in Accounting required
• CPA or active pursuit of license desired
• Experience preparing business and individual tax returns
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office especially, Word and Excel
• QuickBooks experience (desktop and online)
• Proficiency in tax preparation software; Lacerte Tax experience preferred
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Effective communicator with the ability to ask questions in a professional, clear and concise manner and demonstrate patience in client interactions
