Fibre Federal Credit Union is seeking a Consumer Loan Underwriter for ourLongview, WA location.

Wage Range: $28.81 - $45.01

The range above allows our employees roomfor growth through annual merit and other pay increases based on performance.The target pay range for this position is typically within the first halfof the range. Compensation decisions are determined using factors such asrelevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training.Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individualqualifications.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Responsible for reviewing andprocessing loan applications received primarily through our direct and indirectlending channels in accordance with established retail lending guidelines. Musthave the ability to determine credit worthiness of loan requests based on objectivecriteria and loan policy. Approves or denies loan applications based onanalysis. Performs all reasonable tasks to protect the Credit Union from unduefinancial loss. Performs a variety of support duties related to the lendingfunction within the Credit Union.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • · Must evaluate credit applicants for future loan approval.
  • · Approves or denies loans and terms within the loan underwriter'sown limits and established policies of the Credit Union. Makes recommendationson consumer loans outside of authority level.
  • · Must accept loan applications and obtain credit and any otherinformation pertinent to the loan decision and closing of the loan. Must beable to effectively communicate with dealers concerning loan approvals ordenials.
  • · Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and inthe completion of all duties and responsibilities, including assistingunderwriters who have lesser signing authority in making credit decisions.
  • · Processes direct and indirect lending credit applications, butwith the ability to also process other types as well, and obtains anydocumentation necessary to make sound credit decisions in a timely manner.
  • · Maintains delinquency and charge-off ratios within theestablished policies of the Credit Union.
  • · Communicates the status of member applications with loanoriginators and loan processors.
  • · Trains new loan underwriters.
  • · Attends underwriting training as necessary.
  • · Looks for recapture of approved but withdrawn applications andcross-sell opportunities on all Credit Union products and services whenappropriate.
  • · Power books (audits) vehicles to verify that we have accuratevehicle information and document the findings.
  • · Reviews and analyzes indirect dealer applications and fundingpackets.
  • · Reviews loan and member files to develop additional sources ofloan production.
  • · Assists in building and maintaining dealer relationships, whichincludes but not limited to dealer visits.
  • · Follows Credit Union procedures as outlined in the LoanDepartment procedures and Policy Manuals, ensuring all dual control andinternal controls are followed within their area of responsibility.
  • · Reviews and analyzes tax returns to verify income.
  • · Provides assistance where needed in the Loan department.

  • · Thorough knowledge of consumer loan policy,credit granting criteria, and current interest rates.

The individualmaintains ongoing communication with Department Manager concerning activitiesof the department as well as needs or problems and keeps them informed of allpertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and otherimportant information.
  • · Written Communication - The individual editswork for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively, and is ableto read and interpret written information.
  • · Planning/Organizing - The individualprioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, and developsrealistic action plans.
  • · Quality Control - The individualdemonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • · Dependability - The individual isconsistently at work and on time (except for those cases protected by law whichare outlined in the Employee Guide), follows instructions, responds toManagement direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance
  • · Observes Policies/Procedures - Theindividual sets an example in observing (following) Credit Union policy andapplicable Standard Operating Procedures, as well as those in the EmployeeGuide.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
  • · Position Knowledge - Position requiresknowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of twoyears of college, associate degree in business areas, or equivalent workexperience.
  • · Experience - Applicants with a minimum oneyear of loan underwriting experience preferred; however, would consider otherapplicants who have a minimum of two years lending experience. Must havetyping, adding machine, or calculator proficiency, familiarity of data processingsystems helpful, and excellent office work skills.
  • · Must be bondable.
