About the Role
Consulting Systems Engineer (CSE) – Global Enterprise Sales – Southern California.
What You’ll Do
- Lead technical discussions in customer sales meetings, presentations, and whiteboard sessions
- Capture customer requirements and map them to modern integrated utility solutions across electric grid, gas operations, and enterprise OT environments
- Design OT and operational solution architectures aligned to utility modernization initiatives, operational reliability, resiliency, pipeline safety, and clean energy transformation outcomes
- Support utility customers across Grid and Gas operational systems including SCADA, DERMS, ADMS, EMS, OMS, AMI, GIS, pipeline monitoring, leak detection, pressure management, field mobility, and industrial communications platforms
- Develop Statements of Work (SOW), Proofs of Concept (POC), Bills of Materials (BOM), and Level of Effort (LOE) estimates for professional services engagements
- Partner with local Client Executives to build long‑term customer relationships and trusted advisor status within utility operations and IT/OT organizations
- Collaborate with ecosystem partners including Nokia, Cisco, GE Vernova, Itron, Landis+Gyr, AVEVA, and World Wide Technology field engineering teams on utility OT and infrastructure engagements
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in grid modernization, gas utility modernization, DERMS, AMI 2.0, private LTE (pLTE), edge compute, operational analytics, and OT cybersecurity
- Support executive strategy conversations, operational transformation workshops, and hands‑on technical sessions for utility customers
- Up to 25% travel expected
Responsibilities
- Technical Pre‑Sales Systems Engineering and solution architecture
- Serve as technical liaison to supported clients and OEM partners
- Build custom solution architectures and reference designs
- Create BOMs, LOEs, and proposal‑level documentation
- Conduct POCs, demos, and ATC‑backed workshops
- Attend client sales meetings and support RFP/RFI responses
- Expand technical expertise continuously as new capabilities emerge
- Act as the technical liaison for all account technical requests
Qualifications
- 5+ years in pre‑sales engineering, consulting, solutions architecture, or utility OT engineering
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into integrated technology solutions across electric utility, gas utility, and enterprise operational environments
- Strong background in Utility Operational Technology (OT) environments, including hands‑on familiarity with electric grid and gas operational systems (SCADA, EMS, DMS, ADMS, OMS, gas monitoring, pipeline telemetry, etc.)
- Experience with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI 2.0), utility communications and networking (FAN, RF Mesh, private LTE, industrial wireless, IP/MPLS routing)
- Proficiency with industrial protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870‑5‑101/104, ICCP, OT telemetry)
- Knowledge of OT cybersecurity (NERC CIP, IEC 62443, Purdue Reference Model, OT/IT segmentation, critical infrastructure principles)
- Experience with DERMS, grid edge, operational automation, and GIS platforms
- Experience developing SOW, BOM, POC, and LOE estimates for professional services
- Strong communication, presentation, white‑boarding, and executive briefing skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
Preferred
- Direct utility industry experience supporting electric grid, gas utility, or multi‑utility operational environments in an OT engineering, architecture, systems integration, or consulting capacity
- Understanding of utility modernization drivers such as clean energy integration, DER adoption, grid resiliency, wildfire mitigation, pipeline safety modernization, operational reliability, and infrastructure hardening initiatives
- Prior delivery or hands‑on engineering experience in OT systems deployment, systems integration, commissioning, or operational support within utility environments
- Experience supporting utility modernization programs involving SCADA, DERMS, ADMS, AMI, GIS, pipeline operations, industrial networking, or OT cybersecurity initiatives
- Familiarity with utility ecosystem partners and technologies (GE Vernova, AVEVA, Itron, Landis+Gyr, Cisco, Nokia, etc.)
Compensation
Base pay range: $150,000–$200,000 annually. OTE‑eligible with variable compensation on top of base salary.
