We are partnering with a leading consultancy to appoint an exceptional Retail Consulting Partner – Grocery Merchandising to drive growth, deliver transformational change and build a market-leading North American consulting practice.

This is a Senior Leadership opportunity for an experienced grocery merchandising executive ready to extend their influence beyond a single organisation and help shape the future of retail.

You’ll shape merchandising strategy, transform how retailers operate, influence C-suite decision-makers and build a high-growth consulting practice across North America.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is far more than a consulting role. It’s an opportunity to build, lead and shape the future of Grocery Merchandising Consulting.

You’ll partner with senior retail executives to unlock commercial value, drive operational excellence and deliver measurable business transformation across:

• Merchandising Strategy: Optimise assortment, category management, space planning, pricing, promotions and allocation.
• Transformation Leadership: Redesign operating models, business processes and planning cycles while accelerating digital and AI-enabled innovation.
• Executive Influence: Become a trusted advisor to Chief Merchandising Officers, VPs and senior decision-makers, shaping strategies that deliver tangible results.
• Business Growth: Own consulting revenue targets, develop new client relationships and create compelling propositions that address the evolving challenges of retail.
• Practice Building: Establish thought leadership, shape the consulting offering and, as the practice grows, recruit and develop a high-performing team.

THE IDEAL PERSON

You’re an accomplished retail merchandising leader who combines deep operational expertise, strategic vision and commercial leadership with the confidence to influence at the highest levels.

You’ll bring:

• 15+ years of retail experience, with substantial hands-on leadership in Grocery Merchandising.
• Proven expertise across assortment planning, pricing, promotions, space optimisation, allocation, vendor management and category strategy.
• A track record of leading complex transformation initiatives and delivering measurable commercial and operational improvements.
• Strong business development capabilities, financial acumen and experience managing senior stakeholder relationships.
• A forward-thinking approach to AI-enabled merchandising, predictive analytics, digital transformation and omnichannel retail.
• The leadership ability to inspire teams, develop talent, build trusted client partnerships and turn strategic ambition into tangible results.

Consulting experience is advantageous, but exceptional retail-side merchandising leadership is equally valuable. Experience across general merchandise and discretionary categories is an additional plus.
