Northrop Grumman is seeking a Consulting Mission Assurance Engineer – Level 7 in the Dulles, VA area. You will serve as a technical authority, translate requirements into outcomes, and lead cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, contracts, and programs to ensure compliance and flight‑worthy mission assurance.

You will drive risk reduction, mentor staff, and guide execution strategies while collaborating with leadership on industry standards and complex requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 16 years of professional experience OR Master’s with 14 years OR PhD with 12 years.
  • Active U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance at time of application with SCI eligibility.
  • Experience in design and manufacturing or technology environments.

Responsibilities

As a Consulting Mission Assurance Engineer – Level 7 your role at Dulles, VA will be pivotal in supporting missions critical to national and global security. The Consulting Mission Assurance Engineer serves as a technical authority and advisor on programs’ Mission Assurance approach, regulatory requirements, and customer-specific mandates for the Eastern Region Quality and Mission Assurance organization. This role partners across engineering, manufacturing, contracts, programs, and supply chain to ensure executability while ensuring compliance with customer/industry regulations and standards, while driving continuous improvement and risk reduction. A successful candidate in this role will be able to translate requirements into business outcomes, influence behavior, and proactively prevent problems. In this role, you will lead assessments, develop execution strategies, and guide the implementation across programs.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

  • Conduct comprehensive gap analyses and maturity assessments for Mission Assurance Program execution
  • Actively support proposals to ensure appropriate interpretation of regulatory and contractual requirements
  • Evaluation of the organization’s ability to meet customer requirements.
  • Support negotiations of terms and conditions with respect to regulatory flow downs
  • Cross-functionally mentor and train personnel on Mission Assurance approaches for various program/contract types
  • Serve as a non-advocate in the resolution of complex requirements interpretation
  • Supports ethics investigations in requirements interpretation
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of regulations, standards, and industry best practices; disseminates insights internally
  • Potential to serve on industry boards
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 16 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 14 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 12 years of professional experience.
  • Requires an active U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access
  • Experience in design and manufacturing, or technology environment
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Experience with proposal development and contract negotiation
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate teams through conflict resolution
  • Experience with multiple industry standards across aerospace and manufacturing
  • Strong facilitation skills leading workshops and VSM sessions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Top Secret clearance with SCI
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
  • Advanced knowledge and application of industry standards and requirements
  • Extensive experience with Space Flight programs through design, manufacturing, test, delivery and support
  • Experience briefing executive leadership on the interpretation of requirements

Primary Level Salary Range: $212,100.00 - $318,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
