Job Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking junior, mid, and senior level Engineers with experience in Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA), Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA), risk-informed applications, and advanced nuclear regulations. In this role, you’ll partner with global leaders in the nuclear industry on projects that directly influence plant safety, regulatory decision-making, and next-generation risk-informed techniques.

Our Nuclear teams are based in West Chester, PA, and Schaumberg/Chicago, IL but we know top talent isn’t confined by geography. Remote work is available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

You’ll have opportunities to contribute across a variety of areas, such as:

  • PRA Modeling & Analysis – developing and enhancing PRA models for internal events, fire, seismic, and external hazards
  • Risk-Informed Applications – supporting licensing and regulatory strategies that impact plant operations (e.g., RICT, 50.69, ILRT extensions)
  • Tools & Innovation – applying online risk tools and exploring advanced methods, including optimization approaches and workflow efficiencies
  • Human Reliability & Accident Analysis – conducting HRA and evaluating severe accident scenarios
  • Advanced Nuclear – analyzing new regulatory structures, exemptions, and licensing modernization
  • Client & Regulatory Support – providing consulting expertise, preparing regulatory submittals, and delivering solutions that improve safety and efficiency

You don’t need to check every box. Experience in one or more risk-based domains is a great foundation, and we’ll help you grow into new areas.

Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct PRA analyses, calculations, and risk-informed engineering evaluations
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to deliver practical, innovative solutions
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentor and support early-career engineers through knowledge-sharing and guidance
  • Contribute to business growth by building relationships and identifying opportunities
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent PRA-related experience)
  • Experience in the commercial nuclear industry
  • Strong analytical skills, self-starter and independent worker, and a commitment to nuclear safety
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in PRA (internal events, fire PRA, external hazards, or risk-informed applications)
  • 5+ years of PRA experience for mid-level consideration, 10+ for senior-level consideration
  • Experience with nuclear plant operations, licensing, or engineering
  • Familiarity with NRC risk-informed processes
  • Prior consulting or client-facing experience
  • Project management or technical leadership experience
