Job description

About The Role

Spotlight's AI Influence practice is one of the fastest-growing areas of the firm. We measure how B2B technology and services providers show up across the major LLM platforms - ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, and others - and we help those vendors understand why they rank the way they do and what to do about it.

As a Consultant on this team, you'll own the full lifecycle of client visibility assessments: from data interpretation and methodology application to client-facing deliverables and strategic recommendations. You'll work with proprietary data from our platform partner Profound, apply Spotlight's proprietary frameworks, and translate what you find into clear, credible guidance for AR, marketing, and content teams.

This is an analyst role with a consulting edge. You'll be expected to have a point of view, not just a report.

What You'll Do

  • Run end-to-end AI Influence Visibility Assessments - 30-day baselines, 60-day delta reports, and ongoing program monitoring - for a portfolio of B2B tech clients.

  • Interpret LLM prompt performance across models and platforms, identifying patterns in where and how clients are cited, recommended, or omitted in AI-generated responses.

  • Identify content gaps, citation deficiencies, and authority signals that explain a client's visibility position and recommend specific actions to improve it.

  • Develop and deliver client readouts to senior business stakeholders, including AR leads, CMOs and content strategists using storytelling narratives that communicate key insights and findings in leave-behind HTML microsites and slide decks.

  • Track performance across report cycles, building longitudinal narratives that show movement, explain causes, and guide program strategy.

  • Stay current on how major LLMs are evolving in their sourcing behavior, citation logic, and buyer-intent response patterns and bring that knowledge to client strategy conversations.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to refine presentation messaging that will land with specific audiences and inspire clients to take action.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in B2B market research, competitive intelligence, SEO, strategic consulting, or a related field. Direct experience with AI/LLM-adjacent work is a strong plus.

  • Analytical fluency: Comfortable working with structured data exports, calculating composite scores, and explaining methodology to non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in Excel is required; familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.

  • Strong written communication: Able to write tight, executive-ready narratives that connect data to strategy. You should be able to explain complex concepts to a CMO in two sentences.

  • Research orientation: You understand how analysts, buyers, and AI systems consume and validate information.

  • AI fluency: You use AI tools in your daily work and understand how LLMs generate responses - not just that they do. Curiosity about how models like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude differ in behavior is a real differentiator here.

  • Deliverable discipline: Experience producing polished, structured client deliverables under deadline. Spotlight's outputs have a high visual and narrative bar, attention to quality matters.

  • Client communication: Comfort presenting findings and fielding questions from senior client contacts. You don't need to be a natural salesperson, but you should be credible in a client meeting.

  • Adaptability: This practice is young and the methodology is still evolving. You'll need to be comfortable working in conditions where the answer isn't always predetermined.
