Job summary

ERM is seeking a Consultant, Project Finance to join our Sustainable Finance team in Washington DC with opportunities across major US markets and travel to client sites. You will support due diligence, ESIA, and environmental governance for development projects with premier institutions.

The role targets early- to mid-career professionals with a background in environmental science or finance, offering collaboration across a global sustainability leader and exposure to multinational projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Finance, Sustainable Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years (3-5+ years preferred) of consulting or related experience supporting sustainable finance, ESG, environmental management, international development, or similar fields.
  • Understanding of sustainability standards and frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank ESF.
  • Experience with Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
  • Understanding of regulatory environments and environmental governance in the United States and/or Latin America.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental and biodiversity due diligence, monitoring, and compliance activities for international and domestic development projects.
  • Contribute to environmental and social impact assessments, including preparation of technical analyses and reports.
  • Conduct literature reviews, data analysis, field investigations, and technical research to support project delivery.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, recommendations, and client deliverables that meet ERM's standards for quality, budget, and schedule.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across ERM's global Sustainable Finance network.
  • Support project managers in delivering multiple concurrent projects in dynamic environments.
  • Participate in international travel and field assignments, including work in remote locations when required.

What You'll Bring
  • Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Finance, Sustainable Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively within project teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work products.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience supporting projects within multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish.
  • Experience leading tasks, mentoring team members, or contributing to team development.

Pay

For the Consultant, Project Finance position, the anticipated annual base pay is $84,980-$102,154 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
