Summary
We are seeking a strategic and client-focused Employee Benefits leader to oversee a book of business while driving client satisfaction, retention, and long-term client success. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients, partnering closely with producers, leadership, carriers, and internal teams to deliver exceptional service and innovative benefits solutions.
The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder with deep employee benefits expertise, proven leadership experience, and a track record of developing high-performing teams. This individual will balance client consulting, strategic account management, and team leadership responsibilities while fostering a collaborative culture focused on service excellence, operational efficiency, and enduring client partnerships.
Client Leadership & Strategic Consulting
- Serve as the lead consultant and trusted advisor for a portfolio of employee benefits clients.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships that drive retention while identifying opportunities to expand services and deliver additional value where appropriate.
- Partner with producers and executive sponsors to ensure an exceptional client experience and long-term client satisfaction.
- Provide strategic guidance on employee benefits solutions, market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging industry practices.
- Act as a key escalation point for complex client issues and service needs.
- Maintain strong carrier and vendor relationships and lead negotiations as necessary to support client objectives.
- Review client portfolios regularly to identify strategic opportunities, emerging needs, and at-risk accounts, partnering with leadership to develop appropriate client strategies.
- Leverage NFP regional and national resources, tools, and subject matter experts to deliver best-in‑class solutions and client outcomes.
- Serve as a strategic advisor by bringing forward innovative solutions, industry insights, and emerging benefits strategies.
- Partner with producers and Growth Leaders to support client relationship strategies and identify opportunities to deliver additional value to clients.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of consultants through coaching, goal setting, and ongoing career development.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for team members.
- Manage team workloads and resources to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation resource for consulting team members.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support talent acquisition efforts, including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new team members.
Operational Excellence & Collaboration
- Ensure adherence to NFP policies, procedures, service standards, and client commitments.
- Collaborate with shared services teams to deliver client solutions efficiently and effectively.
- Communicate regularly with team members and leadership regarding client needs, business priorities, and operational initiatives.
- Share best practices across the local market, region, and national organization to promote consistency and innovation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Deep knowledge of employee benefits and a passion for the industry and its evolution.
- Strong communication, presentation, and consultative leadership skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and outcomes effectively.
- Proven leader with the ability to develop, coach, and motivate high-performing teams.
- Strong relationship management, consultative communication, and client advisory skills.
- Analytical and strategic problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Education & Experience
- BA/BS preferred.
- 5+ years of industry experience.
- 5+ years of employee benefits consulting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing complex client relationships and leading consulting teams.
- Experience serving as a trusted advisor to clients and partnering across multiple stakeholders to deliver strategic benefits solutions.

BASE SALARY RANGE: $119,100 - $160,000
