This role can be filled in Columbus, Ohio, Des Moines, Iowa, Scottsdale, Arizona, or remotely. If working from an office, this role will follow a hybrid schedule, coming into the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Consultant, Data Engineer for Technology Inventory Services reports to the Manager of the Technology Inventory Services team. This position is part of the Technology Inventory Services (TIS) team, responsible for Data Governance, Data Engineering, CMDB, and IT Asset Strategy related to Nationwide’s technology inventory. TIS defines standards and best practices for Nationwide’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
This role ensures the accuracy and completeness of configuration items in ServiceNow CMDB. Responsibilities include Configuration Management, ITOM Discovery, Service Mapping, and Operations—focusing on maturation, data analytics, data modeling, data visualization, and leading Core Operational Groups (COGs). The role will also manage the CMDB in ServiceNow, addressing strategic challenges from Nationwide’s 27 Business Units to ensure the CMDB meets their needs while adhering to standards and best practices.
Ideal candidates will have a passion for data, a broad understanding of business applications and processes, infrastructure, IT Service Management (ITSM) configuration management, and knowledge of ITOM Visibility and Service Mapping. The role involves partnering with various Technology Product Owners, Engineers, Security & Infrastructure, Enterprise Data Office, and Business Solution Areas. Collaboration with ITSM processes such as Change, Release, Incident, and Problem Management is also essential.
Candidates should have (or quickly acquire) familiarity with Nationwide’s Technology Run Processes (ITSM/ITIL), operating procedures, and tools like ServiceNow.

The candidate must be a pragmatic professional capable of collaborating across all organizational levels, comfortable presenting to leadership and technical staff. Strong knowledge of ServiceNow, CMDB, ITSM/ITIL, and ITOM is required. Exposure to application management and infrastructure technology is preferred.
