Our mission is to ensure seamless integration of changes into the Middle Market operation reducing operational risk to meet specialized customer needs. We are looking for someone who possesses a keen interest in testing and resolving issues related to people, processes, and technology to be part of our Model Office Team. Main responsibilities include:

  1. Collaboration: Work with directors and other leaders within MM and outside to select participants and align on scope and success measures.
  2. Deliverables Creation: Develop project plans, processes, procedures, model office guides, presentations, logs, and impact assessments. Utilize support structures to test theories and measure success.
  3. Training & Support: Host informal training, present progress to stakeholders, and host huddles. Perform testing or work 1:1 with MM associates to test.
  4. Risk Management: Identify and escalate risks and issues.
  5. Problem Solving: Identify creative solutions and workarounds to problems presented.
  6. Conclusion Presentations: Summarize model office experiences, including change curve results, data, and recommendations.

Candidate Criteria:

  1. Self-starter with curiosity and problem-solving skills.
  2. Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
  3. Strong communication at an executive and associate level.
  4. Strong analytical skills.
  5. Experience in commercial lines (5+ years).
  6. Experience in projects is a plus.
  7. Project management or LEAN is a plus.
  8. Must demonstrate grit and determination.

As a Consultant, you'll act independently or as a member of a team responsible for establishing a common understanding of the business environment in which a project must be defined, designed, created, deployed, used, and supported. You will participate in major process modeling, analysis, and design efforts providing business performance management, organizational design, and business risk management capabilities to formulate pragmatic, forward-facing, and impactful business transformation plans.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with senior leaders to transform their businesses through the strategic application of people, processes, and technology. Participate in planning by identifying complexities, dependencies, and duplications.
  2. Demonstrate expertise in leading business process analysis/design, organizational analysis, needs assessments, and cost/benefit analysis to align solutions with business strategies and direction. Consult with functional groups within Nationwide Technology and internal business clients to develop short- and long-term business transformation plans.
  3. Serve as process management contributor and consultant between business customers and systems area for development and implementation of business processes and procedures. Communicate with customers, management, and external sources.
  4. Identify critical elements of a business process that need to be managed. Define criteria of performance success. Report performance cohesively.
  5. Participate in analysis and design of organizational structures, roles, responsibilities, governance, staffing, and sourcing to support business goals, strategies, and process architecture. Contribute significantly to executing business unit level change.
  6. Conduct and lead training of customers on business, technological, societal, and environmental trends to support strategies for improving business performance.
  7. Evaluate new and existing products, procedures, and workflow needs related to business systems. Recommend systems alternatives and enhancements based on technological developments and business requirements.
  8. Develop compelling business cases, including gaining senior management input, to accomplish business objectives. Assess and mitigate business risks related to current and target operating models.
  9. May provide direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff. May assign responsibilities, set objectives, monitor progress, and develop project plans and work structures.

Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director. This is an individual contributor role and does not have direct reports; may lead projects or teams.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

  1. Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information, business, mathematics, or related field preferred. Graduate studies are a plus.
  2. Eight plus years of experience in planning, designing, and implementing company-wide business transformation initiatives. Extensive experience in process, information, data modeling, data management, warehousing, and application integration. Experience with process redesign methods and tools. Three years of project management experience is preferred.
  3. Knowledge of standards, methodologies, frameworks, business process management, and technology. Strong understanding of system development life cycle, project management, facilitation, performance management, organizational design, and change management. Ability to lead large projects and communicate effectively in ambiguous situations.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies, and experiences, may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions require approval by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

  1. Overtime eligibility: Exempt (not eligible).
  2. Working conditions: Normal office environment. Extended hours may be required. Occasional travel may be needed.
