Job summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health seeks a full-time Consult Liaison Psychiatrist to join our Lancaster, PA practice. The team includes board-certified psychiatrists and other professionals focusing on medical illness and transition of care.

The role involves 7-on/7-off with 10-hour days, providing psychiatric consultations, evaluations, and safety planning across hospital services. Collaborative care and education for staff are integral parts of the job.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine (Allopathic/Osteopathic).
• Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency.
• Possess or able to obtain an unrestricted PA Medical License.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric consultations for adult inpatients across medical, surgical, ICU, and specialty services.
• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop treatment plans with medication recommendations and safety planning.
• Diagnose and manage mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety, delirium, and behavioral complications of medical illness.
• Document evaluations and recommendations in the EMR according to hospital standards.
• Lead delirium assessment and management with hospital teams to improve outcomes.
• Provide rapid psychiatric evaluations in the Emergency Department and determine disposition.
• Coordinate with Addiction Medicine, social work, and case management for transitions of care.
• Serve as a psychiatric consultant in interdisciplinary rounds and educate staff on behavioral health topics.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and development of hospital-based behavioral health services.
• Provide compensated call coverage for hospital consult services, PATH unit, and ED coverage.
