OhioHealth Learning, Culture, and Belonging (LCB) is seeking an Education Specialist to support training for patient care associates in Columbus, OH. You will develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programs, manage resources, and pursue cost-saving opportunities while aligning with organizational strategies.

You will lead projects, collaborate with system educators, and apply adult learning principles to improve outcomes and staff development across the department.

Job Description Summary:

This position provides support within the OhioHealth Learning, Culture, and Belonging (LCB) department and the organization through training and education of patient care associates. He/she is also responsible for managing resources and seeking opportunities for program development, improvement, and cost savings. He/she may also serve as the subject matter expert for various project teams that require the skills of this role.

Responsibilities And Duties:
  1. Education delivery
    • a. Applies principles of educational processes which include the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of program development and management.
    • b. Utilizes adult learning principles in the development and facilitation of educational programs.
    • c. Communicates the impact of educational outcomes on department leadership.
    • d. Utilizes best practices and learning trends in program design.
    • e. Reviews and evaluates educational content to ensure alignment with clinical evidence-based practice.
    • f. Works with leadership to develop educational plans that align with organizational strategies and need.
    • g. Facilitates educational programs to promote job performance, organizational outcomes, and professional development.
    • h. Collaborates with system educators and team members to achieve the department's educational goals.
  2. Project Management
    • a. Manages projects: determines needs, adheres to allotted resources, maintains project timelines, and generates progress reports as requested. Prioritizes and delegates work of others on the team.
    • b. Identifies the need for additional tools and resources that will enable the development of creative solutions for projects / problems.
    • c. Provides information for leadership to negotiate and collaborate with executive sponsors and stakeholders to achieve project success.
    • d. Adheres to educational principles and guidelines to support achievement of desired outcomes.
  3. Leadership
    • a. Actively participates on committees, councils, clinical teams, and process improvement initiatives that impact department and system initiatives.
    • b. Supports the team in the development and growth of current programs.
    • c. Participates in precepting new team members.
  4. Communication
    • a. Assists in differentiating between education and performance gaps. Communicates finding with appropriate unit leadership.
    • b. Assists in assuring standardization of education by collaborating with educators across the system.
    • c. Communicates efficiently and effectively with individuals and team members.
  5. Change Management
    • a. Facilitates and supports change through effective communication with internal team members and system educators.
    • b. Demonstrates positive attitude toward system change.
