Job summary

Merante Companies seeks a Yardman to join our team. This role collaborates with the Manager/Lead Dispatcher to keep the trucking and equipment division efficient, safe, and profitable on construction projects.

Main duties include maintaining a clean, organized yard; loading/unloading and delivering materials; ensuring equipment is stored properly and well maintained; and coordinating with project managers to understand material needs. EOE and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in a construction yard preferred.
• Experience operating loaders, forklifts, and skid steers required.
• Some computer/smartphone skills are required.
• Experience with small tools and equipment is required.
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of construction language and effective communication in a construction environment.
• Basic safety practices in construction settings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, organized yard and manage materials.
• Assist in loading/unloading and delivering materials/tools for projects.
• Ensure equipment is stored properly, in good working condition, and report issues.
• Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to understand material needs.
• Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Support field operations with timely materials assistance.
• Work with Operations Coordinator to maintain inventory and inspections of equipment.
