Job summary

Starr Insurance, a global commercial insurer, seeks an Underwriting Assistant to support the San Francisco Region. You will assist underwriters, manage documentation, and help maintain policy records for primary construction accounts.

This role emphasizes organization, communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment; proficiency with Microsoft Office is expected, and prior insurance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Preferable prior experience in commercial insurance.
• Strong knowledge of Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Liability policies.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills are mandatory.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and technical support to the San Francisco Regional Manager and Underwriters on primary construction accounts.
• Manage and process documentation for 26 active policies (WC, GL, AL).
• Coordinate policy renewals, endorsements, audits, and certificates of insurance.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure timely data entry in underwriting systems.
• Serve as a liaison between underwriters, brokers, and clients to facilitate smooth account management.
• Assist with reporting, analysis, and special projects as needed for Primary Construction.
