Job summary

BBOP Center is seeking a seasoned NCCER Certified Instructor to deliver standardized, competency-based construction training within the Pathways to Prosperity program in the Inland Empire. The role emphasizes field-experience translation into classroom instruction and ongoing certification maintenance.

Responsibilities include proctoring tests, evaluating performance, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with the Training Program Director to meet accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum field experience: 4 years in the craft to be taught, or
• At least 3 years as a certified teacher in a vocational construction program
• Documentation: one of diploma, resume with relevant modules, NCCER assessment, state license, or DoE certification

Responsibilities

• Deliver NCCER curricula per accreditation standards
• Proctor module tests and evaluate performance profiles
• Maintain confidentiality and security of training/testing materials
• Ensure learner evaluations are conducted as required
• Coordinate with Training Program Director for accommodations
• Maintain training/testing documentation for audits

Job description

BBOP Center’s Pathways to Prosperity program is a FREE employment training program dedicated to equipping Inland Empire residents with the skills, certifications, and hands‑on experience needed to launch careers in construction and related trades. The program serves veterans, justice‑involved individuals, young adults out of school or work, and individuals 18+ who meet eligibility requirements — providing paid hands‑on training, industry‑recognized certifications, career guidance, job placement support, and wraparound services.

We are seeking a seasoned construction professional with a passion for workforce development to serve as an NCCER Certified Instructor. In this role, you will deliver standardized, competency‑based construction training to Pathways to Prosperity participants using NCCER’s nationally recognized curricula. The ideal candidate brings deep field experience, a commitment to developing the next generation of construction professionals, and the ability to translate real‑world expertise into impactful classroom instruction. Upon certification, the instructor will be authorized to teach NCCER curricula, proctor module tests, and evaluate performance profiles within their approved construction craft area(s).

Schedule & Compensation

• Schedule: Monday – Friday | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Pay Rate: TBD

Qualifications

To teach all levels of a construction craft, candidates must demonstrate at least one of the following:

• Minimum journey- or licensed technician‑level experience (at least 4 years) in the specific construction craft(s) to be taught, OR
• At least 3 years of experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance‑related training program

Supporting documentation must include at least one of the following:

• Diploma from an accredited postsecondary institution in the relevant construction field (e.g., HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, AND/OR General Carpentry)
• Resume documenting hands‑on experience in the construction curriculum title(s) or specific module(s) to be taught
• Passing score on the relevant NCCER journey‑level assessment and corresponding Performance Verification
• State‑issued license in the relevant construction field
• State Department of Education certification in the relevant construction subject/occupation/craft

Note: Candidates with less than 4 years of field experience may qualify to teach Core and lower levels (Level 1 or 2) with a validated resume and appropriate documented experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver NCCER construction curricula in compliance with all accreditation standards and policies
• Proctor module tests and evaluate performance profiles within approved construction craft areas
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all training and testing materials
• Ensure learner evaluations are conducted as required
• Coordinate with the Training Program Director or Manager on special needs/accommodation requests
• Maintain all training and testing documentation for audit purposes
• Never share NCCER account login credentials
• Complete professional development training through the NCCER Learning Platform at intervals determined by NCCER to maintain active certification

Certification Requirements (through BBOP Center)

For Craft Professionals:

• Successfully complete the Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP) for Craft Professionals
• Pass all required tests
• Complete and pass the 10‑minute evaluated presentation (Presentation Evaluation packet available at https://nccer.my.site.com/Support/s/)
• Provide proof of current teaching certification OR document 3+ years of post‑secondary instruction in construction or a related field
• Successfully complete the ICTP for Certified Educators and pass all required tests

Additional Notes

• Instructors are not permitted to proctor their own module tests for any reason, including test preparation
• All qualification documentation must remain on file for the duration of employment and a minimum of 3 years following departure, or until the Accredited Training Program's audit is cleared (whichever is longer)
• Instructors originally certified under another Accredited Training Program must have qualifications re‑validated by the Training Program Director, Manager, or Program Contact prior to activation
