Job summary

Tidewater Tech in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Building and Construction Trades Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction and hands-on training for skilled trades. You will cover areas including Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Commercial Equipment and Repair, Plumbing, and more.

No prior teaching experience is required; a 5-day paid instructor training program is provided to help you transition into the classroom. Compensation is up to $32/hour with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• OSHA 10-hour safety certification within 6 months of hire date.
• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Transition Certification within 6 months of hire date.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum three (3) years of hands-on practical experience in the building and construction trades.
• Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge and continuing study of the subject matter.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
• Detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes on a regular schedule and foster a welcoming learning environment.
• Assist in curriculum development and scheduling.
• Maintain academic and attendance records for student files.
• Keep classroom and lab neat and orderly.
• Submit attendance, grades, and reports per procedures.
• Notify Supervisor of potential issues requiring attention.
• Utilize retention techniques approved by the school.
• Complete required teaching modules as directed.
• Assist with equipment inventory and purchasing requests.
• Support maintenance and utilization of program equipment.
• Attend in-service training and meetings.
• Alert Supervisor to student absences.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
