Job summary

MoDOT is seeking a construction technician to provide semi-skilled technical support in the construction of engineering projects. The position is based at the Hampton Project Office in St. Louis, with responsibilities performed under moderate supervision.

Key duties include basic construction tests (air, slump, moisture, density), preparing reports, assisting in inspections of plants and paving, and recording project information to ensure compliance with department standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET.
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification required within 90 days.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic construction tests such as air, slump, moisture, compaction, aggregate gradation, and density; reports results to supervisor.
• Performs measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, and contractor payment estimates.
• Assists in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading, base, bituminous or concrete paving.
• Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to inspections; keeps supervisor informed of activities or unusual conditions; ensures projects meet department standards.
• Enters and records information regarding construction projects into computer programs.
