Job summary

MoDOT seeks a Construction Technician to provide semi-skilled technical support for engineering projects at the St. Louis District Office in Chesterfield. Responsibilities include testing, measurements, inspections, and data entry under moderate supervision.

Requirements include a High School diploma, OSHA 10-Hour certification within 90 days, and successful completion of a work simulation and medical-physical exam. Physical activity and potential snow-plow duties may apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic construction tests such as air, slump, moisture, compaction, aggregate gradation, and density; reports results to supervisor.
• Performs measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, and contractor payment estimates.
• Assists in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading, base, bituminous or concrete paving.
• Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to inspections; keeps supervisor informed of activities or unusual conditions; ensures projects meet department standards.
• Enters and records information regarding construction projects into computer programs.
