Farnsworth Group is seeking a Construction Technician in one of the below posting locations. In this role, qualified candidates will perform construction engineering services in Central Illinois. You will have an opportunity to work in the field on Municipal Water and Wastewater projects.

Posting Location(s) for this role: Bloomington, Champaign, Chicago, Lisle, Peoria, or Tinley Park, IL

Job Activities:

  • Visits construction sites to provide quality control on construction projects by ensuring plans and specifications are adhered to by contractors and follow local/state regulations.
  • Review plans on constructability in conjunction with the engineers and project managers.
  • Perform quality control reviews of design documents, including plans and specifications, within the area of expertise.
  • Attend meetings with clients and project managers to convey and/or receive information.
  • Monitor contractor construction schedules to ensure projects are completed within established timelines.
  • Observe testing required by contract documents to record and prepare reports.
  • Prepare written materials to document activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.

Specific Requirements include:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management/Civil Engineering Technology or related field desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years or equivalent of related experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to read and comprehend civil engineering drawings and specifications.
  • General familiarity with IDOT specifications.
  • Ability to compute basic quantities for constructed components of a project.
  • Basic survey capabilities with robotic and GPS survey equipment.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD, Civil3D, a plus.
  • Skills with documentation requirements and inspection procedures.
  • This position typically has work that is performed in both an office environment and in the field on construction sites.
  • Must be willing to work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Some daily travel will be required.
  • Work requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion.
  • Able to develop relationships and communicate with clients.
  • Able to work on several multi-discipline projects.
  • Encourages and supports a safety-oriented culture.

Salary Range: $25 - $34 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
