Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician for our Greensboro team. No experience is required, and paid training is provided along with certification fee coverage.

You will learn to safely perform a variety of field tasks under the guidance of experienced professionals. Responsibilities include observing, testing, and sampling soils, aggregates, and concrete at job sites, following industry standards.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and follow laws and company policies.
• Willing to learn CMT principles and ASTM lab standards to achieve certifications.

Responsibilities

• Observe, test, and sample materials (soils, aggregates, concrete) at project sites under supervision.
• Perform routine field and laboratory tests according to industry standards.
• Collect data, perform calculations, and assist with drafting and admin tasks as needed.
• Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers; report changes and requests.
• Receive training in ECS methodology and document findings with engineering precision.

Position Overview

No experience necessary, paid training is provided, and we pay your certification fees! ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Greensboro team. No prior experience is needed; you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals to learn to safely perform a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities : Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites; execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
• Testing Procedures : Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance.
• Data Collection : Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; may assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties as requested.
• Communication : Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; communicate changing site conditions and additional requested testing to supervisor; attend project meetings as requested; assist with organization of field equipment and notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.
• Training and Development : Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices.

• Willing to develop an understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and applications, as well as ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.
