Job summary

Planet Glass in Tennessee is seeking a Construction Technician, an entry-level role in the commercial glass and glazing industry. You will assist with fabrication, preparation, transportation, and installation of glass, aluminum storefront, curtain wall, entrances, doors, hardware, and related materials while learning from experienced glaziers.

This full-time, non-exempt position requires a year of construction experience, the ability to read a tape measure, and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of construction experience.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Experience in framing, carpentry, remodeling, handyman work, finish carpentry, door/window installation, or general construction.
• Ability to safely use drills, saws, impacts, grinders, levels, caulk guns, and other construction tools.
• Basic math skills and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.

Position Summary

The Construction Technician is an entry-level skilled construction position for individuals with previous construction experience who want to build a career in the commercial glass and glazing industry. This position assists with fabrication, preparation, transportation, and installation of commercial glass, aluminum storefront, curtain wall, entrances, doors, hardware, and related materials while learning from experienced glaziers.

• Assist with installation of commercial glass, storefront, curtain wall, entrances, doors, hardware, and aluminum systems.
• Safely load, unload, transport, and organize materials.
• Read a tape measure accurately.
• Operate hand and power tools safely.
• Assist with layout, fabrication, and installation.
• Learn to read blueprints and shop drawings.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
• Follow OSHA and Planet Glass safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
• Protect company tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Complete required training and perform other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum one year of construction experience.
• Experience in framing, carpentry, remodeling, handyman work, finish carpentry, door/window installation, or general construction.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Ability to safely use drills, saws, impacts, grinders, levels, caulk guns, and other construction tools.

• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aluminum storefront or curtain wall experience
• Forklift or aerial lift experience
• OSHA 10/30 Certification

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry 75+ pounds.
• Stand, walk, kneel, bend, squat, crawl, and climb throughout the day.
• Work on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Safely handle large glass and aluminum materials.
