Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is hiring a Construction Technician for our Rockford, IL or Janesville, WI offices. The technician will support the construction group on various projects from roadways to utilities, and assist with planning, design, and construction of facilities.

You will work directly with firm clients, observe field activities, perform surveys and layout, and help engineers manage project deliverables. Strong communication and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication with residents, businesses and public agencies.
• Ability to travel throughout the northern Chicagoland and Southern Wisconsin area (own transportation).
• Work in a team environment; strong organizational and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Quantity Computation and Construction Layout/Survey.
• Observe, measure and document construction activities.
• Complete Construction Reports daily with adequate information on tasks observed.
• Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks during project delivery.
• General civil engineering and client service.

About the role, Your Impact:

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Construction Technician in our Rockford, IL or Janesville, WI offices. The Technician will support the firm’s construction group on a variety of projects ranging from roadways to underground utility installations. Additionally, this position will assist with the planning, design, and construction of a variety of facilities. This position will also offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $28.00 - $40.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
