Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Construction Technician to support a variety of construction projects in Rockford, IL or Janesville, WI. The position requires effective communication, teamwork, and strong organizational skills.

Construction Technician

Location: Rockford, IL or Janesville, WI.

About the Role, Your Impact

Support the firm’s construction group on a variety of projects ranging from roadways to underground utility installations, assist with the planning, design, and construction of facilities, and work directly with firm clients.

Responsibilities

• Quantity computation.
• Construction layout/survey.
• Observe, measure, and document construction activities.
• Complete construction reports daily with adequate information on tasks observed.
• Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery.
• General civil engineering and client service.

Education Requirement

• Associate's degree in Structural/Architecture and/or Construction Management Technology desired or related field experience.

Must-haves, What You Will Bring

• 2+ years of experience working as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects.
• Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses and public agencies.
• Ability to travel throughout the northern Chicagoland and Southern Wisconsin area (own transportation).
• Work in a team environment.
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Compensation

Pay range: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on a candidate’s skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
