Job summary

Auburn University’s Facilities Management is seeking a Construction Tech to support the maintenance and construction of campus buildings, streets, and property. You will help ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include carpentry tasks, painting, demolition, and operating forklifts and lifts. The role emphasizes training compliance and possible project ownership on small campus initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in carpentry tasks for installation, repair and maintenance of ceilings, flooring, walls, windows, doors, door jams, and siding.
  • Prepare and paint interior/exterior surfaces including sheetrock, wood, brick, concrete, handrails, posts and chains and other surfaces.
  • Perform minor demolition work as needed for renovations and/or construction projects.
  • Operate motorized equipment including forklifts, truck/trailer combinations, and man lifts.
  • Meet and maintain training and credentialing requirements as outlined by the department’s training and credentialing requirements.
  • May be given responsibility of individual project completion, seeing to its logistics, cleanliness, completion, and client interactions.
  • May assist in the setup of barricades and other dividers across campus
  • Assists with the assembly, installation, and repair of office and classroom furnishings such as desk, chairs, and whiteboards.

As a Construction Tech, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the construction, repair, and maintenance of Auburn University’s buildings, streets, and property. Your work will directly contribute to creating a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

Level I:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License

Level II:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience in carpentry, roofing, road repair, and/or concrete forming and finishing.
  • Valid Driver's License

Substitution allowed for Experience: Yes, when a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Internal candidates may be required to provide training and certification requirements as outlined by the Auburn University Facilities Management Policy for some positions.
