Job summary

Xcel Energy seeks a highly experienced Construction Supervisor to lead field supervision and day-to-day electrical activities for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. You will own the project lifecycle from definition to implementation, drive milestones, coordinate contractors, and enforce safety and quality on site.

The role requires managing scope, cost, schedule, and quality, with strong communication to stakeholders and a focus on transitioning completed work to Operations.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of hands-on electrical experience, with a strong background in low and medium voltage electrical work.
• Experience as an electrical inspector within the electrical discipline.
• Experience in renewable energy construction including Wind, Solar, and/or BESS projects.
• Previous experience with EPC contractors or owner organizations is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle from project definition through implementation, ensuring adherence to scope, cost, schedule, and quality measures.
• Provide direct field supervision and oversight of all day-to-day electrical construction activities on site.
• Develop and maintain project plans, drive project milestones, and prepare documentation and status reports.
• Coordinate daily contractor activities and verify electrical completion and quality of work in the field.
• Conduct field inspections and quality surveillance to ensure compliance with project specifications and company standards.
• Monitor contractor performance and facilitate timely resolution of field issues identified during inspections.
• Verify corrective actions are implemented appropriately and effectively.
• Establish and maintain an effective communication plan with the project team and key stakeholders.
• Provide day-to-day direction to project resources and ensure teams have the support needed to meet defined objectives.
• Ensure effective change management occurs throughout the course of the project.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring all site activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices.
• Support the transition of completed construction activities to Operations.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical work
• Strong understanding of construction project best practices and field inspection techniques
• Experience with civil design and construction support in renewable energy environments
• Familiarity with solar panel positioning systems such as NEXTracker is highly beneficial
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a positive, collaborative attitude
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership abilities
• Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities with proven problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize safety and champion a culture of compliance on site
• Highly collaborative team player capable of working across contractor and owner organizations

Experience

• 7–10 years of hands-on electrical experience, with a strong background in low and medium voltage electrical work
• Specific experience as an electrical inspector within the electrical discipline
• Experience in renewable energy construction including Wind, Solar, and/or BESS projects
• Previous experience with EPC contractors such as Mortenson or Blattner Construction, or owner's representative organizations such as National Grid, Nexterra, or Duke Energy is highly desirable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is highly preferred; candidates with this degree may have it count toward years of experience
• OSHA 30 certification is preferred but not required
