Job summary

NextEdge is seeking a Field Operations Supervisor to oversee daily project performance and ensure technicians deliver quality client service. You will support Project Managers in hitting safety, quality, and financial goals across aerial, underground, and MDU work.

You will coordinate workloads, review timekeeping, conduct QA inspections, and lead weekly safety and performance meetings, while remaining flexible for on-call and emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of cable TV field operations experience incl. aerial and underground construction practices, MDU/Commercial wiring and codes.
  • DOT regulated position; requires annual MVR and a DOT physical.
  • Proven leadership and ability to coach and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

  • Routes daily workload for aerial, underground, or MDU work.

Job description

Summary/Objective

Responsible for the day-to-day performance of the project, ensuring that Construction Technicians provide quality service to the customer and support the Project Manager(s) in achieving company financial and business goals.


Essential Functions


  • Provide timely and accurate routing of daily workload which could include aerial, underground or MDU type work.

  • Ensure assigned projects are completed to specifications and completed within customer deadline.

  • Perform daily or weekly review of technician time sheets for proper coding and time keeping.

  • Perform QA inspections on the work completed by the technicians.

  • Provide employee performance feedback, coaching and counseling (in conjunction with Human Resources) in a timely manner.

  • Investigate and resolve damage claims in a timely manner.

  • Work with customers to resolve service-related complaints.

  • Conduct weekly vehicle and tool inspections per company established guidelines.

  • Conduct weekly team meetings with emphasis on safety and quality.

  • Call in Locates for underground work.

  • Flexibility to work on-call rotation or emergency situations when needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies


  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of aerial bucket trucks, underground machines such as trencher, mini-ex, and directional bore.

  • Knowledge of city codes for underground work such as permits, restoration, traffic control.

  • Ability to use a personal computer and software applications to include Microsoft Office.

  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate others


Supervisory Responsibility


  • Sets goals for performance and deadlines in ways the comply with company and clients plans and vision.

  • Trains new staff in the department.

  • Organizes/oversees workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.

  • Monitors employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching. Provides timely performance evaluations.

  • Partners with HR/Legal to address performance issues of employees in accordance with company policy.


Work Environment


  • Able to work in all non-climate-controlled environment and all-weather conditions except for unsafe or extreme weather conditions.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


  • 40+ hours per week

  • Some weekends


Travel


  • Limited travel may be required to other projects


Required Education And Experience


  • 3+ years of experience in cable TV filed operations including aerial and underground cable construction practices, MDU/Commercial wiring and codes, and technical knowledge for activation and repair of plant.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications


  • This is a DOT regulated position and it requires a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) to be obtained every year during employment and a DOT Physical every 1-2 years.
