Job summary

MPI seeks a seasoned Construction Superintendent to drive daily field operations for mid-rise and education projects in the Chicago-area. You will coordinate schedules, safety, and subcontractor performance while collaborating with investors and site stakeholders to maintain project momentum.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in general contracting, a construction-focused degree, OSHA accreditation, and strong communication skills to manage diverse teams and align with client expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field.
  • 7+ years as a construction superintendent for a general contractor.
  • OSHA certification preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience leading ground-up construction projects and managing a large team.
  • Mid-rise experience, preferably with diverse projects.
  • Proven track record of effectively and efficiently managing job sites.
  • Working knowledge of field construction: systems, practices, safety and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with management, subcontractors, consultants, architects, vendors, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day construction field activities to meet milestones.
  • Review blueprints and contractor submissions to develop bids.
  • Lead project planning and site logistics.
  • Monitor subcontractors for quality and safety.
  • Maintain daily/weekly logs and coordinate all activities.

This role will specifically be within the K-12 / Higher Education division.

Description
  • Manage day-to-day construction field activities to ensure that project milestone dates and overall schedule completion dates are met.
  • Review blueprints, customer needs and contractor submissions in order to execute appropriate bids.
  • Lead team with construction project planning and developing site logistics.
  • Monitor subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and safety guidelines are met.
  • Utilize good time management to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Keep daily and weekly work logs.
  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
  • Work directly with investors at times and maintain a professional and client facing attitude.
  • Ensure proper signage is posted on the construction job site, and safety requirements are met
Profile
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field is preferred
  • 7+ years as a construction superintendent for a general contractor
  • OSHA certification (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience leading ground-up construction projects and managing a large team
  • Mid-rise experience, preferably with diverse projects
  • Proven track record of effectively and efficiently managing job sites
  • Working knowledge of field construction: systems, practices, safety and procedures. Also, knowledge of general engineering principals and construction techniques, materials, methods, and sequencing
  • Excellent communication skills with various parties including management, subcontractors, consultants, architects, vendors, and clients
