Job summary

MPI in Chicago-land seeks a construction Superintendent with proven leadership on mid-rise multifamily, commercial, retail or TI projects. You will manage field activities, review plans, coordinate site logistics and supervise a large team.

The role offers strong compensation, full benefits, PTO, vehicle allowance and company vehicle, plus training and career advancement; travel to ongoing projects may be required; OSHA preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field is preferred.
  • 4+ years as a construction superintendent for a general contractor.
  • OSHA certification (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience leading ground-up construction projects and managing a large team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day construction field activities to meet milestone dates and overall schedule.
  • Review blueprints, customer needs and contractor submissions to execute bids.
  • Lead team with construction project planning and site logistics development.
  • Monitor subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and safety guidelines are met.
  • Utilize time management to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Keep daily and weekly work logs.
  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
  • Work with investors professionally and maintain client-facing attitude.
  • Ensure proper signage and safety requirements on site.

Description

Profile
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field is preferred
  • 4+ years as a construction superintendent for a general contractor
  • OSHA certification (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience leading ground-up construction projects and managing a large team
  • Mid-rise experience, preferably with diverse projects
  • Proven track record of effectively and efficiently managing job sites
  • Working knowledge of field construction: systems, practices, safety and procedures. Also, knowledge of general engineering principals and construction techniques, materials, methods, and sequencing
  • Excellent communication skills with various parties including management, subcontractors, consultants, architects, vendors, and clients
