Job summary

IREN is seeking a Construction Superintendent – Civil for the Childress, TX team to lead civil construction activities on a heavy industrial project. The role requires strong leadership, deep experience in civil construction, and the ability to manage contractors and safety on site.

Responsibilities include overseeing earthworks, concrete and utilities, ensuring schedule adherence, and maintaining quality and regulatory compliance while coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight – supervise daily civil construction activities (earthworks, concrete, structural steel, site utilities) per plans and schedule.
  • Team Management – mentor subcontractors, ensure productivity and safety.
  • Safety Compliance – enforce OSHA and site safety standards, conduct inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Quality Control – monitor progress, ensure compliance with drawings/specs and industry standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication – collaborate with managers, engineers, and subcontractors to align on goals.
  • Documentation – maintain daily reports, schedules, and change orders.
  • Problem Solving – address on-site issues to keep project on track.

IREN is currently looking for a Construction Superintendent – Civil to join our Childress, TX team. Joining our construction crew, the right candidate will demonstrate leadership skills. We are looking for a candidate with strong Civil Supervisor experience and a positive attitude.

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 3 yearsas asuperintendent on industrial projects (e.g., oil & gas, power plants, or heavy industrial).
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, including concrete, grading, paving, and underground utilities.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and schedules.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, MS Office Suite)
Other Important Requirements
  • Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
  • Must provide own steel-toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or have plans torelocatebefore starting work.
  • Must be comfortableworkinga rotational schedule, which includes day and night shifts as well as weekend work, based on project needs.
  • Employees working night shifts will receive a 15% premium added to their hourly rate only for hours worked during night shifts.
Job Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight – Supervise daily civil construction activities including earthworks, concrete, structural steel, and site utilities, ensuring alignment with project plans,scheduleand specifications.
  • Team Management – Monitor and mentor subcontractors ensuring productivity and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Safety Compliance – Enforce OSHA and site-specific safety standards, conducting regular inspections and toolbox talks tomaintaina safe work environment.
  • Quality Control – Monitor work progress and quality, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards. Address deficiencies promptly. Ensure duties are performed safely and in compliance with all Company, Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Stakeholder Communication – Collaborate with construction managers, project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve issues, provide progress updates, and align on project goals.
  • Documentation – Maintainaccuraterecords, including daily reports, schedules, and change orders to track progress and support project reporting.
  • Problem Solving – Identify and resolve on-site challenges such as weather delays, design conflicts, or labor shortages to keep the project on track.
Job Benefits
Compensation
  • The expected hourly rate for this role starts at $57.50 USD.
  • Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications.
  • Per Diem amount of $180.00and project allowance, when applicable
  • 15% night-shift premium for eligible roles, when applicable
  • Overtime compensation for non-exempt workers for hours worked over 40 per week
  • Relocation and Living-out-allowance (as applicable and based on successful candidate circumstances)
